Spider or thread vein removal (Microsclerotherapy and laser) is a medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins. It is a well-proven procedure and has been in use for decades. Spider veins and thread veins are small, unsightly, superficial veins usually found in clusters on the legs. They appear on the surface of the skin as visibly widened, contorted reddy-purple veins, often together as fan-like flares or knots. They are not necessarily associated with varicose veins. Broken veins appear most frequently on the thighs, calves and ankles.
Telangectasia is the term used for small red veins which are commonly referred to as red veins, dilated capillaries or broken veins. They commonly appear on the face, particularly on the cheeks and nose.
