Treatment Summary
Palomar Icon IPL Skin Rejuvenation is an exceptional treatment for improving the tone and texture of skin. It can also help treat rosacea, sun damage/spots, age spots and skin ageing resulting from sun exposure and environmental issues.

Our patients return to us year after year for natural, balanced results. Every review reflects our commitment to precision, safety and a personalised approach to aesthetic care.
An IPL photofacial treatment works by directing a beam of laser light to target the dark pigment (melanin) within age spots and red blood cells in the skin. This removes abnormalities without scarring or damage, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of ageing. By adjusting the wavelengths of light emitted during an IPL treatment we can target specific skin conditions and this adjustable nature makes IPL treatment extremely versatile and easy to customise. We are therefore able to treat a single issue or address several problems simultaneously, such as pigmentation removal, redness reduction and creating a more even skin coloration.

Sun damage is a major cause of premature ageing. With the Cynosure Palomar Icon Laser we can successfully treat sun spots, pigmented lesions and overall skin texture giving you a revitalised, younger appearance.
“I really didn’t think much could be done about the sun spots on my forehead until I came to see Dr Joney De Souza. I had a course of laser treatments which have really helped to clear my skin and restore the texture.”
MaxG IPL is highly effective for treating sun damage, pigmentation, redness, broken capillaries, rosacea, uneven skin tone and general dullness. It is ideal for anyone wanting brighter, clearer and more uniform skin.
The MaxG device delivers controlled pulses of light that target pigment and blood vessels beneath the skin’s surface. This light energy breaks down pigmentation and reduces redness while stimulating collagen for smoother, more even skin.
Most patients benefit from a course of 3–6 sessions, spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Your recommended number of treatments will depend on the level of pigmentation or redness being addressed.
Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild redness that settles within a few hours. Pigmentation may temporarily darken before gradually fading over several days. Makeup can usually be worn the next day.
Most patients find IPL comfortable. You may feel a quick, warm “snap” during each pulse of light, but the MaxG’s advanced cooling features help maintain comfort throughout the treatment.
Every Fraxel 1540 and Erbium YAG treatment at Dr Joney De Souza Clinic begins with a detailed consultation. During this appointment, Dr Joney will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and review your medical history to determine the best laser settings for your goals. He will explain how fractional non-ablative technology works, what improvements you can expect and the level of downtime associated with your bespoke treatment plan.
Once your personalised plan is agreed, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and a topical anaesthetic may be applied to enhance comfort. The Fraxel 1540 or Erbium YAG laser is then passed across the treatment area, delivering precise microbeams of energy into the deeper layers of the skin while leaving the surface intact. This controlled stimulation encourages collagen renewal, smooths texture, softens lines and helps reduce pigmentation and scarring. Most sessions take around 20–40 minutes, depending on the area treated, and the sensation is typically warm with minimal discomfort.
After treatment, the skin may feel warm and appear slightly red, similar to a mild sunburn. Some tightness or dryness is normal during the first couple of days. Dr Joney will provide a tailored aftercare routine, which may include soothing creams, hydration and strict sun protection to support optimal healing. Mild flaking or bronze discolouration may occur as the skin renews.
Downtime for Fraxel 1540 and Erbium YAG is generally short, often limited to a few days of mild redness or dryness. Over the following weeks, collagen production continues to increase, and you’ll notice progressive improvement in texture, clarity and overall skin quality. A review appointment may be recommended to track your results and discuss maintenance options if needed.
