PicoSure Focus is highly effective for targeting pigmentation such as sun spots, age spots, melasma, freckles, and uneven skin tone. It can also help improve overall skin clarity, brightness and texture.
The PicoSure Focus lens delivers picosecond pulses of energy that shatter pigment into tiny particles without damaging surrounding tissue. This process stimulates natural skin renewal and collagen production for clearer, smoother-looking skin.
Most patients benefit from 2–4 sessions, spaced 2–4 weeks apart, depending on the amount and depth of pigmentation being treated. Some types of pigmentation, such as melasma, may require more gradual treatment plans.
Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild redness for a few hours, and some pigmentation may temporarily darken before naturally flaking or fading over several days. Makeup can usually be worn the next day.

Once your personalised plan is agreed, the skin is carefully cleansed and protective eyewear is applied. The PicoSure laser is then used to deliver ultra-short picosecond pulses of energy across the treatment area. These pulses target pigmentation, sun damage and uneven tone while stimulating natural collagen regeneration. Most sessions take around 15–30 minutes, and patients usually describe the sensation as a quick, warm “snap” on the skin with minimal discomfort.
After treatment, the skin may appear slightly pink or feel warm for a few hours. Some pigmentation may temporarily darken before gradually fading as the skin renews. Dr Joney will provide a tailored aftercare plan, which may include gentle skincare, moisturiser and strict sun protection to support the healing process.
There is very little downtime with PicoSure Focus. Most patients return to normal activities immediately, and makeup can often be applied the next day.
